Data Scientist

Job Overview

Join Target’s Data Science & Engineering team as a Data Scientist and help develop and manage advanced GenAI, Computer Vision, NLP, and ML algorithms. You’ll work with large-scale data to build models and solutions supporting key business areas like merchandising, personalization, and digital. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in machine learning, probability, and statistics while writing well-tested, maintainable code in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or R. You’ll also contribute to Target’s inclusive culture by collaborating with diverse teams to deliver impactful data-driven solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
• Solid foundations in mathematics, probability, statistics, and linear algebra
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Demonstrated experience applying data science techniques to real-world problems

Skills

• Proficient in Python, SQL, Hadoop/Hive; familiarity with ML engineering practices
• Working knowledge of deep learning, computer vision, GenAI, and machine learning concepts
• Strong programming fundamentals including unit testing, CI/CD, and code organization
• Effective communicator who can present data-driven insights through clear narratives and visualizations
• Self-driven, results-oriented, and a strong collaborator
