Role Overview – Software Engineer at Cisco

As a Software Engineer in Cisco’s EDaaS team, you will design and develop internal platforms that simplify engineering workflows, improve onboarding, and provide developers seamless access to tools, pipelines, and services.

The role spans frontend development, backend APIs, platform engineering, and DevOps integration, working closely with product owners, DevOps engineers, and platform teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Build intuitive and responsive frontend interfaces using modern frameworks
• Develop scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Design and enhance internal developer platforms and portals
• Integrate DevEx platforms with CI/CD and DevOps toolchains
• Implement secure authentication, access control, and compliance guardrails
• Build dashboards and metrics to monitor platform usage and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve developer workflows
• Document technical designs, APIs, and self-service guides
• Contribute to observability, monitoring, and platform reliability
• Iterate quickly on features that improve developer productivity

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a Software / Full Stack Engineer
• Proficiency in frontend frameworks such as React or Angular
• Backend development experience with Java, Go, or Node.js
• Experience with databases like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redis
• Knowledge of RESTful API design and system integrations
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native concepts
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
• Strong understanding of web security and authentication concepts
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced teams

Preferred Skills

• Experience building internal developer portals
• Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
• Knowledge of distributed systems, API gateways, or service meshes
• Experience with data visualization and dashboards
• Contributions to open-source or internal developer tools
