Role Overview – Analyst (Independence & Ethics Compliance)

As an Analyst – Research at Grant Thornton, you will work closely with the GT US Independence & Ethics Compliance team, supporting relationship checks and independence monitoring. The role requires in-depth research of client affiliations, family trees, and regulatory relationships, ensuring compliance with independence standards across audit and non-audit engagements.

This role is ideal for candidates interested in compliance, governance, research, and risk management functions within professional services.


Key Responsibilities

Family Tree Research

  • Perform research on related entities and affiliate relationships
  • Review and maintain family trees for conflict and independence checks
  • Conduct research for employee benefit plans and prospective acquisition targets
  • Maintain SEC audit client family trees with alerts
  • Manage private equity group family tree structures
  • Perform Form ADV and FINRA broker-dealer research
  • Analyze and interpret complex structures from Bureau Van Dijk (BvD)

Compliance & Engagement Support

  • Collaborate with GT INDUS, GT US ethics, and engagement teams
  • Reconcile restricted and client lists with global databases
  • Support Monitored PEG program activities
  • Assist engagement teams with relationship check queries
  • Monitor and manage independence research inboxes

Research Administration

  • Act as coordination bridge between INDUS and GT US teams
  • Monitor research mailboxes and assignment logs
  • Prepare and maintain assignment sheets
  • Respond to engagement team inquiries professionally
  • Support ad-hoc projects and private equity segment checks
