Role Overview – Assistant Fire Life Safety Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for developing fire safety strategies across a wide range of buildings and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with UK and international fire engineering codes. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, delivering high-quality, performance-driven fire engineering solutions within defined budgets and timelines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop fire safety and life safety strategies for buildings and infrastructure projects
  • Review architectural and engineering designs against applicable fire codes
  • Deliver performance-based fire engineering solutions, including bespoke designs
  • Conduct peer reviews of fire engineering calculations and reports
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines
  • Ensure project delivery meets quality standards, schedules, and budgets
  • Prepare clear, detailed technical reports and documentation

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in fire and life safety engineering
  • Hands-on experience with fire and smoke modelling tools (CFD, zone models, evacuation models preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of UK fire engineering codes (BS 7974, NFPA 101)
  • Experience with international standards such as British Standards, NFPA, IBC
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong technical report writing capability
