Role Overview
As a Data Science Analyst in the CFR Analytics & Data Science CoE, you will:
- Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models that drive decisions across risk, fraud, and marketing.
- Work with large datasets to uncover insights, identify opportunities, and craft innovative solutions.
- Apply machine learning, big data, and statistical techniques to real-world business problems.
- Partner with global business leaders to inform strategies and improve decision-making.
- Continuously innovate to make decisions smarter, faster, and more impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand business objectives and decision levers within American Express.
- Analyze complex datasets to deliver actionable insights.
- Build advanced models using Python, R, SAS, Hive, Spark, and SQL.
- Innovate with big data and machine learning techniques to improve fraud detection, credit risk management, and marketing strategies.
- Communicate insights clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry developments in finance, payments, analytics, and AI/ML.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- MBA or Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields.
- 0–18 months of experience in analytics or big data projects.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Technical expertise in Python, R, SAS, SQL, Hive, Spark.
- Exposure to machine learning methods: supervised/unsupervised learning, neural networks, reinforcement learning, Bayesian models, etc.
Preferred
- Strong coding and algorithm development skills.
- Knowledge of high-performance computing, transfer learning, and advanced AI models.
