Role Overview – QE Engineer at Cloudera

As a QE Engineer in the SDX Infra team, you will be responsible for validating the stability, scalability, upgrades, and resiliency of Cloudera’s enterprise data platform. The role combines automation, exploratory testing, cloud validation, and CI/CD integration, ensuring seamless customer experiences across releases.

You will gain hands-on exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP, distributed systems, Hadoop ecosystem components, and modern AI-assisted test automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop test scenarios for automated and exploratory testing
• Build and maintain automation frameworks using Python (pytest), Shell, Java (TestNG/JUnit)
• Create end-to-end test workflows for upgrade, scalability, and stability validation
• Validate horizontal and vertical scaling of distributed systems
• Execute resilience testing to ensure failure recovery and minimal downtime
• Debug deployment and system-level issues with root cause analysis
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
• Collaborate closely with Dev, PM, and Platform Engineering teams
• Maintain detailed test documentation including test plans and reports
• Act as a quality advocate by enforcing engineering best practices

Technical Skills

• Strong programming knowledge in Python or Java
• Experience with test automation frameworks and QA methodologies
• Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and upgrades
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments
