Role Purpose

This role supports HSBC’s commitment to enhancing regulatory returns, strengthening data quality, and improving internal financial reporting, aligned with the IRR programme. The position focuses on the upliftment, enhancement, and continuous monitoring of data controls, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and validity of financial datasets used across regulatory and business finance reporting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure finance datasets enable accurate and timely internal and regulatory reporting across HSBC Group
  • Own reference data governance, including annual certification of data completeness, accuracy, and validity
  • Lead end-to-end reference data and rules management processes across Finance Data Cloud platforms
  • Govern Base BDEs, auto-adjustments, validations, fallbacks, ESG, and strategic reference data tools
  • Partner with reporting operations, regulatory reporting, liquidity teams, data owners, and system operations
  • Maintain centralized governance for rules, validations, and adjustments across finance systems
  • Support testing, UAT, remediation, and go-live activities with strong governance controls
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues through structured root-cause analysis
  • Represent Reference Data and Rules Management in change and governance forums
  • Ensure compliance with Data FIM expectations and internal governance standards

Skills & Competencies Required

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of data controls, DUSE framework, and data governance
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and data architecture
  • Hands-on data analysis skills with SQL, Python, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting and business finance processes
  • Expertise in data quality management, source-to-target mapping, and high-volume data loads
