As a Software QA Engineer, you will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of Windows patch catalogs used in enterprise vulnerability and patch management workflows. Your work will directly impact how organizations detect vulnerabilities, apply patches, and remain compliant with global security standards.

You will collaborate with developers, content engineers, and system administrators, validating patch intelligence that aligns with Microsoft advisories, CVEs, and vendor bulletins.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate Windows patch catalog metadata (KBs, supersedence, severity, applicability)
• Test vulnerability detection logic and patch deployment workflows
• Align patch data with Microsoft advisories, CVEs, and vendor bulletins
• Verify patch applicability across Windows desktop and server editions
• Perform regression testing for recurring updates (e.g., Patch Tuesday)
• Maintain QA environments, VMs, and snapshots for multi-OS validation
• Create and execute manual and automated test cases
• Log, track, and resolve defects using JIRA / Azure DevOps
• Support QA documentation, test plans, and release notes

Required Skills & Technical Knowledge

Core QA & Windows Skills

• Strong understanding of Windows Update, WSUS, SCCM / Intune
• Knowledge of Microsoft KB articles, cumulative & superseded patches
• Experience in manual and automated QA methodologies

Automation, Tools & Platforms

• Scripting knowledge (especially PowerShell)
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
• Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail or Zephyr
