Regulatory Data Engineer

Job Overview

Sphera is hiring a Regulatory Data Engineer to support its Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) platform. This role involves researching and managing global chemical regulatory data, analyzing legislation, and contributing to database content updates that support sustainable chemical management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret global chemical regulations (GHS, emission limits, transport, etc.)
• Collect data from government and industry sources for regulated substances
• Analyze and document regulatory updates for a chemical database (230K+ substances)
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve data quality and process efficiency
• Attend team meetings and maintain stakeholder communication

Skills Required

• Strong attention to detail & documentation skills
• Knowledge of global chemical regulations (GHS, REACH, etc.)
• Database experience: MS Access / SQL
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Additional languages (German, French, etc.) a plus

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Ecology, or related field
• 0–2 years of experience in EHS or chemical regulatory roles
• Good grasp of chemical nomenclature and hazard classifications
